DEAR GAYE, I am still basking in the warmth of last weekend.January 2005

Thank you for being the perfect hostess as always. As for Mel-

MEL LED OUR DISCUSSIONS WITH HUMOUR AND TACT.
HER THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS STIMULATED
DISCUSSION AND KEPT US ON TRACK.
I CAN GIVE NO HIGHER PRAISE FOR MEL
THAN THAT!
BARB H.

I thank you for a fun weekend. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and spend time in such a welcoming place.
Attached is the reading list as discussed. My mother has mailed the list to the others as she did not have their email address.
Thank you again
Carolyn
PS It was great to be pampered with such great cuisine.

I appreciate the way Mel is so organized with questions and information . It helps everyone to also "think" through the book again in an orderly fashion. I find the set of questions opens up the discussions in an orderly way and makes sense. Also Mel always has so much additional info.about the authors that is revealing for the creation of books. "Hi Gaye, I just loved the "Nestle Down" week-end with author Mel Malton, that I recently attended. Friday night was delightful, cozying up to the fire with delicious hors d'oeurves and the company of an amazing group of women. Saturday's book discussions were wonderfully facilitated by Mel. She had many thought provoking questions for us, and everyone had a chance to voice their opinions on the three books. It was amazing to see the books through others eyes, and to recognize the similar themes running across the books, that at first glance would appear to have nothing in common. Mel was warm, witty and very knowledgeable, and it was a pleasure to take part in both the book discussions and the creative writing workshop. I think that the latter was my favorite part of the week-end. Mel gave easy to follow instructions, and the ideas just flowed naturally from her suggestions.
What a great time. Good food, good company, and great discussions. Thanks Gaye," Diane Biggs

What could be nicer than a book chat weekend at Woodlands Springs B&B? The food was divine. I am still licking my lips as I savor the memory of those waffle/french toast delights dipped in molasses. But then the fruit soup was lovely too and I must not forget the egg in a nest.. so puffy and light. I am sure that if they serve eggs in heaven this must the recipe they use.

Books! Well yes we did have interesting discussions about The Red Tent, The Golden Compass and The Painted House. Mel Malton cleverly devised questions to encourage divergent thinking. She was funny, encouraging and very inclusive. She was knowledgeable about all three of the books chosen for discussion and had researched interesting facts to support opinions and ideas discussed. I was surprised and delighted at the ways in which she linked the three titles. The creative writing component was well received by the group and allowed us to explore our own past and our writing skills without undue stress. This exercise helped us to learn more about ourselves and each other. Like the women in The Red Tent we grew in confidence and self esteem with Mel's guidance. Every woman should have the opportunity to enjoy a Red Tent weekend at Woodlands B&B. Thanks very much Gaye. Sincerely," Diane Noon

"I am still remembering the warm feeling of the book weekend and the
superb brunch menu.Thank you so much." Dorothy

"A wonderful, cozy weekend. New friends and great conversation. Mel is a talented facilitator, and so our book discussions were spirited and revealing. What could be better- to be warm, well fed, and still learn and come away feeling better for it!!" Barb

Finding Mel Malton at Woodland Springs just after the release of her 4th novel was so exciting. We first met her at a murder mystery weekend and wanted to meet again and discuss all her writings, inspiration, and techniques.
What a comfortable and delicious stay we've had. Even a wonderful dog to accompany us on our winter walk with just enough snow to make everything beautiful. Thank you for your comfortable and warm hospitality. It has been a great weekend.
